Added Value of the George Daily Trust
Mahaska Community Impact
The George Daily Family Trust is committed, through its bylaws and granting principles, to providing broad-based financial support to projects which benefit the Oskaloosa/Mahaska Community. Trustees and members of the board have established a definition of Oskaloosa for guiding gifting principles:
The ‘benefit the community of Oskaloosa’ has been defined to be the areas in and around Oskaloosa which interacts with Oskaloosa-based activities. This includes the entirety of Mahaska County and, in some cases, nearby areas such as youth sports in Bussey and Pella Little League activities which are part of leagues in Oskaloosa/Mahaska County Little Leagues.
The Trust, however, is far more than an opportunity for the betterment of youth sports. Area arts have benefited; as has community improvement, beautification and restoration; enhancement of area playgrounds; preservation of area history; and program enrichment and development which help serve the marginalized residents of the community.
Community celebrations have been enhanced, education and training have been promoted, costs for emergency equipment have been supplemented, and projects providing new initiatives have been supported.
The Trust is not used for routine operational expenses and is not to be considered the sole support for any project. The Trust motto, “A Seed For Growth” has definitely been realized since its first grant in 1993.
